Julia's book of art and writing was one of my favorite projects to date. I used one of her pastel paintings as source material for the cover, creating a design that felt calm and contemplative. I also wrote the copy for the synopsis on the back cover.
For the spreads, I let her art and writing shine by not over-complicating the layout.
When I took over as Newsletter Editor for East Valley Artists, I gave the layout a refresh. Here you can compare the original pages next to the redesigns. I created a Canva template for the newsletter that integrated the club's brand guidelines so that any member can use it after I pass the torch. I also designed a logo for the newsletter to strengthen branding.
The school where I volunteer requested a single-sided flyer to advertise their open house. They needed to include a lot of information and several images. I arranged the content in a way that isn't overwhelming. The result is easy to scan visually, allowing the reader to find what they need quickly.
This flyer for an imaginary event is an example of student work I did while at Mission College. It's fun, inviting, and immediately reads as something having to do with design.
